Q & A. Who is Hertta H.?
As I have been a professional journalist for 15 years and I have written stories only about other people, it is finally time to do a little playful introduction of myself.
Who are you? My name is Hertta Hiltunen. Since my first name is difficult to pronounce abroad, I am often called Erta or Errrta… I am actually surprised if somebody gets my name right – so anything goes. Some people call me Hearts, because in Finnish Hertta means hearts, like in playing cards.
Where are you from? I come from Helsinki, Finland. Now I split my time between Italy and Finland.
What do you do for work? I am an entrepreneur and I do many things through my company. I am a professional journalist, writer and host/presenter. I love being a journalist because I am a very curious person. I have written articles from newspapers to glossy fashion magazines, and I have worked for television too. Mostly I like to write stories about people, lifestyle and culture.
My other big dream was to become an actor. I am not in Hollywood yet, but I have had the luck to do acting and modeling as a semi-professional side job and as a hobby. I have also worked in the marketing and PR business. For work inquiries I am happy to tell more about myself, just ask. 🤓
What are you blogging about? I want to write about things that inspire me and make me smile. At the moment I am blogging about my adventures in Italy.
What are your biggest passions? There are so many things that make my heart beat faster and make a smile on my face. I love art in many forms; theatre, dancing, music, visual arts, photography, fashion, architecture… I am a creative person, and I get inspired by kind, creative people who do something with big passion, whatever the passion is.
What are your hobbies? When I was a child, my parents let me try as many hobbies as I wanted. I went to art school for many years, I was a scout, I tried playing the piano (note, tried!) and so on. I tried many things but got fed up easily. But few hobbies stayed in my life; acting, dancing and a love for art. I love ballet, both watching and dancing. I think dancing, acting and making art belongs to everybody. It does not matter how it looks, but how it feels.
One skill you would like to learn? I want to learn to sing because I am terrible at it.
What are your best and worst qualities? I am passionate, playful, creative, adventurous, optimistic and kind. I am very emotional and sensitive, in good and bad.
Pizza or pasta? Well made pizza margherita, per favore! Pizza vegetariana goes too. 🙏🏻
What is your favourite place in Italy? It is impossible to answer because every city and village in Italy is unique and has its own atmosphere. Italy is rich and has everything; stunning paradise beaches and islands, mountains, cities full of history and art. The most beautiful place I have ever visited is Venice. Rome is definitely the city where I feel most at home in Italy. I also love the sea, so Amalfi Coast and Capri are my favourites too. I cannot wait to discover Sicily, Puglia and Calabria.
What is your favourite place in Finland? I love the archipelago in the South of Finland, especially around Hanko and Tammisaari. Finland´s capital Helsinki is definitely a must-see. It is very vibrant and full of culture and events. If you have never visited Finland, I recommend visiting Lapland in the winter or in the autumn when leaves change color.
Personally, I like to relax at my family´s summer cottage, walk in the forest with our dog, take a sauna and swim in the sea no matter how cold the water is.
